OSTEOPATHY FOR NECK AND UPPER BACK PAIN

In this Article

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR NECK AND UPPER BACK PAIN?

  • Osteopathy is effective in gentle joint and soft tissue mobilisation.

  • Laser Therapy is very effective for osteoarthritis by helping to reduce inflammation and pain.

  • IDD Therapy is very effective for trapped nerves and chronic pain.

Common Causes of NECK PAIN

  • Poor posture. Incorrect alignment or slouching can strain the neck muscles and joints in the neck causing pain and headaches.

  • Muscle tension. Stress, anxiety or overuse of neck muscles can lead to tightness and discomfort. This often affects soft tissue and the neck joints and is a common cause of pain and headaches. Gentle osteopathy combined with soft tissue work can help relieve these symptoms.

  • Injury or trauma. Whiplash from car accidents, sports injuries or falling can result in neck pain and soft tissue trauma.

  • Arthritis. Conditions such as osteoarthritis or cervical disc degeneration can cause chronic neck pain. IDD Therapy and osteopathy are ideal for these issues.

  • Trapped nerves. Compression of a nerve in the neck, often due to a bulging or degenerative disc, can cause shooting pain and numbness in the arms. IDD Therapy is especially effective for these issues.

  • Poor sleeping position. Sleeping on too high or too low pillow, or with an awkward body posture can lead to neck pain by compressing neck joints.

  • Repetitive strain. Activities that involve repeatedly tilting or twisting the neck, like using a computer or phone, can generate neck symptoms. This often affects neck joints and soft tissue structures. Gentle osteopathy provides effective relief.

  • Poor ergonomics. Using poorly designed furniture or equipment, like an uncomfortable office chair or car seat, can contribute to neck pain.

  • Ageing. As we age, the spine and its supporting structures tend to deteriorate, increasing the risk of neck pain and trapped nerves.

  • Medical conditions. Certain medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, or meningitis can also cause neck pain.
