With a strong collaboration with Alliance Healthcare at Stepping Hill Hospital, Phil can arrange imaging as needed and is highly skilled in MRI interpretation to get to the root of your pain. The clinic is the only one in Derbyshire offering IDD Therapy, a cutting-edge treatment for disc-related issues, making Phil’s approach unique in the region.

2000

Phil’s Journey

I consider myself very fortunate because I have always loved my job and still do. To be an osteopath you have to enjoy people and it definitely suits my personality.

Taking pain out of people’s lives is also the ultimate form of job satisfaction.

My interest in the human body and injury started a long time ago after my own personal experience. 

2005

Phil’s Journey

I grew up on a hard-working family dairy farm in Cheshire and a few aches and pains were just part of the lifestyle. The family farm was renowned for making Cheshire Cheese by hand which was back breaking work (literally!).

One day I experienced excruciating lower back pain while in the dairy that I could not ignore. I went to see an Osteopath who helped me recover. 

2014

Phil’s Journey

While studying Food Science at Reading University I also became increasingly interested in human physiology, anatomy, and human nutrition.

These experiences and aspirations led me to enrol at the European School of Osteopathy in Kent in the year 2000. 

When I graduated, I moved to the Peak District and started practicing osteopathy.  

2016

Phil’s Journey

Eager to pursue my vision, I opened my own clinic in Buxton in 2008 and I have never looked back.

As the clinic expanded and became quickly established, I was joined by two associates in 2011 and 2014. 

In 2014 I also opened the Bakewell Osteopathy Clinic to serve the town and surrounding villages. 

2019

Phil’s Journey

It was during these times that I noticed the volume of people with chronic unresolved lower back and neck pain issues who had little hope of resolution.

In 2015 I took my first major step to address this issue by investing in innovative technology. An IDD Therapy machine was purchased for the Buxton Clinic. 

This treats chronic longer term lower back and neck pain caused by degenerative discs and joints, and trapped nerves caused by disc bulges or disc prolapsed that cause sciatica. 

With the installation of the IDD Therapy the clinic expanded rapidly.

2021

Phil’s Journey

Since this time, the clinic has helped many people suffering from pain originating from degenerative discs issues and trapped nerves, treating clients from South Manchester, Northern Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

It was also professionally satisfying for me to undertake MRI interpretation courses which really helped expand my knowledge and understanding of the spine.

 We have continued to innovate and invest in other technologies such as Shockwave Therapies and Laser Therapy.

Whether through Osteopathy or through different treatment modalities, to have the ability to help people lead pain-free lives has been so satisfying.
