Matt the Welder
Matt had been putting up with pain in his lower back for two years. Therapy had failed to cure the problem and he wasn’t in favour of painkillers, so he’d grit his teeth and carry on.
But the pain was getting worse and, with a long life of manual work in front of him, the Tideswell welder knew he had to do something.
“I’m on my feet all day and it was really grinding me down – I was in a lot of pain by the end of the day, and in the mornings it was nearly impossible to put my socks on,” says Matt. “I knew it was just going to get worse and at just over 40 I’ve got a good few years of work in front of me.”
A couple of people had suggested Buxton Osteopathy Clinic, so Matt made an appointment.
Clinic owner Phil Heler initially applied some manual manipulation, but this did little to ease the pain. So he recommended an MRI scan at Stepping Hill Hospital to assess Matt’s suitability for IDD Therapy.
The MRI results revealed three bulging discs in his lower spine – all suitable for the therapy that has brought vital relief to an increasing number of Phil’s patients.
Within two weeks of the scan, Matt was receiving his first round of treatment – with rapid results.
“My back got better pretty quickly; I was very impressed,” he says. “There was no pain or discomfort from the treatment and now I’m virtually pain-free.”
Matt adds: “I’m pleased with the way the clinic treated me. Phil and his staff are very friendly and easy to deal with – I had to cancel appointments a couple of times and it was never a problem.”
And although the cost of the scan and treatment was initially daunting, it was a price well worth paying: “When you get such a good result, the cost doesn’t seem quite so painful!”
IDD Therapy works by applying computer-controlled forces at precise angles to gently draw targeted spinal segments apart, relieving pressure on discs and trapped nerves and easing muscles and ligaments.
